Bucs youngsters ready for Soweto derby

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates' MultiChoice Diski Challenge stars, Ricardo Lourenco and Lehlohonolo Mtshali, admit they are emotional and excited about Sunday's Soweto derby.

The Sea Robbers face their fierce rivals at the Sinaba Stadium in Daveyton as both outfits look to close ground on leaders Mamelodi Sundowns at the top of the MDC standings.

Bucs have an eight-point deficit to make up, while Chiefs trail the Brazilians by five points.

Bucs also go into the contest without coach Zipho Dlangalala after he parted ways with the club earlier this month. Benson Mhlongo will reportedly take over the reins of the young Pirates outfit.

Nonetheless, Bucs' two young stars are eagerly anticipating the clash.

"It's an emotional game for everyone, my family and friends have been talking about it since we got back to training," Lourenco said.

"We came back very early and have been working hard, the mood in camp is good."

Mtshali added: "There is no Premiership football or AFCON for people to watch, so all the focus will be on us in the MDC.

"To make matters worse is that the match will be televised...this adds that extra pressure on us."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
