Buchanan scores as Chiefs claim Macufe Cup

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs were crowned Macufe Cup champions after thumping Bloemfontein Celtic 4-1 at Free State Stadium on Sunday.

Edmore Chirambadare opened the floodgates in the first minute of the game as he pounced on a loose ball after the Celtic defence failed to clear a Siphiwe Tshabalala corner.

Captain Tshabalala doubled the lead for Amakhosi in the 11th minute with a fine finish that gave Celtic goalkeeper Ayanda Mtshali, no chance.

Chiefs extended their lead on the stroke of halftime from the penalty spot after Lucky Baloyi was hacked down inside the box and Bernard Parker converted the spot-kick.

Celtic were a more rejuvenated side in the second half and as a result they pulled one back through Fiston Abdul Razak in the 52nd minute.

The new Chiefs number 10, Keagan Buchanan, then put the final nail in the Celtic coffin to round up what was a polished performance by Steve Komphela's charges.
