Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs playmaker Keagan Buchanan is set to make his first team debut when they face Bloemfontein Celtic in the Macufe Cup at Vodacom Park Stadium on Sunday.
Coincidentally, Buchanan signed from Celtic on a free transfer at the end of last season, but has yet to feature because of a serious knee injury that's kept him out of action since November.
After returning to training, a few cameo's with the MultiChoice Diski team and a friendly appearance against Township Rollers, the Cape Town born midfielder is ready to don the Amakhosi jersey in an official fixture.
"It's been a long journey for me. I'm lucky to have the support of my family and Kaizer Chiefs that got me through my injury," he told The Sowetan. "It's been a tough journey, but I'm back in the field and I'm happy.
"Obviously when you come to a team like Chiefs there is pressure and even more pressure when you come with an injury. There are expectations from everyone. They are signing you to make a difference and I'm just excited to be back in the field."
"I played in the Multichoice and when you play these youngsters they see that you are from the first team and they want to kick you.
"I have been going through people and I have been kicking and tackling, which has helped. I rode some tackles and stuff, so I think I'm passed that barrier of not wanting to tackle. I put my foot in."
