Buchanan not all that keen on returning to Chiefs

Maritzburg United midfielder Keagan Buchanan says going back to Kaizer Chiefs may not be the best move for his career as he wants regular football.

The 27-year-old signed for Amakhosi from Bloemfontein Celtic in 2016 but endured a difficult time at the Soweto giants, making only four league starts in two years before joining the Team of Choice.

Now Buchanan has revealed that he is more focused on playing for a team where he fits in, but conceded that money also plays a role.

"Everyone dreams of playing for the big teams," Buchanan told New Frame.

"Fortunately, I've been there. So, to me, going back to Chiefs doesn't even matter now. All I want is to play football regularly, which is something that I'm doing right now.

"I'm not focusing on leaving. If there are any offers, that's the chairperson's problem. I'm focusing on playing and enjoying myself.

"If the chairperson feels that it's a good offer, then we will have to sit down with the chairperson and discuss it further.

"If the time comes that I have to leave, there are so many things that I have to consider. I'm no longer young; I have to look at my financial part first.

"I need to go to the team that I'll fit in and be able to put in my best performances. For me, it's all about me playing and my financial wellbeing."
