Keagan Buchanan says Martizburg United are gunning for a top eight finish this season as he dreams of continental football.
The 28-year-old midfielder, who joined the Team of Choice from Kaizer Chiefs in 2018, has also played for FC Cape Town and Bloemfontein Celtic.
Maritzburg entered the enforced break as a result of the coronavirus in fifth place, 10 points from leaders Chiefs, and eight points ahead of Highlands Park in eighth place.
They also made it to the Telkom Knockout final this season but narrowly lost to Mamelodi Sundowns.
KickOff reported Buchanan as saying: "We just set our goals to want to finish as high as possible and obviously our first goal is to finish in the top eight.
"We've already exceeded a lot of people's expectations in terms of making it to a final. Now our focus is to guarantee our top-eight spot, then after that we start setting another goal."
Maritzburg ended last season in 15th place on the Premier Soccer League standings, and secured their survival via the promotion/relegation playoffs.
Buchanan added: "Finishing in the top four and qualifying for CAF football will be equivalent to almost winning the league.
"Coming from the relegation playoffs to a CAF spot will be a very successful turnaround for the team."
