Kaizer Chiefs sign goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs have on Thursday signed Chippa United goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi after recent struggles to replace the injured Itumeleng Khune, the club announced.

Football manager Bobby Motaung announced the deal at a press conference, where he also announced the unfortunate news that youngster Wiseman Meyiwa has been forced to retire.

Chiefs have now signed the Nigerian shot-stopper after a number of high-profile errors by the incumbent Virgil Vries against Mamelodi Sundowns and Cape Town City.

Head coach Ernst Middendorp lashed out at Vries after his error in the 78th minute against Benni McCarthy's side on Wednesday.
