Booth backs Chippa to claim 'Downs scalp

Johannesburg - Matthew Booth has backed Chippa United to ge tthe better of Mamelodi Sundowns in their crucial MTN 8 semi-final second-leg encounter on Wednesday night.

The Chloorkop outfit are still reeling from their 2-1 defeat against Zesco United in the first leg of their CAF Champions League semi-final in Zambia on Saturday.

And the former Sundowns defender is adamant that the busy schedule faced by Pitso Mosimane's outfit is likely to lead to their downfall against Dan Malesela's side at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

"I said it before the game that I believe Sundowns would get a good result away to Chippa, but Chippa has what it takes to turn the result around away from home," Booth told Soccer Laduma.

"My reasoning for that was simply the fact that before the first-leg, Sundowns were as fresh as any other team, but the same can’t be said going into the second-leg.

"That is a lot of travelling and I believe Chippa will look to capitalise on that in order to cause an upset," Booth concluded.

The Chilli Boys will look to continue their impressive start to the season in the all-important semi-final encounter against Sundowns on Wednesday, 21 September.
