Black Leopards announce new head coach

Cape Town - Black Leopards have confirmed that Lionel Soccoia is the new head coach while announcing the arrival of Thuso Phala and Mogakolodi Ngele to beef up the squad.

Soccoia takes over the role recently vacated by Dylan Kerr who managed to save the club from relegation but later announced his resignation due to management interference.

Meanwhile, on the playing side Phala arrives after being released by SuperSport United for disciplinary reasons where Ngele joins as a free agent after seeing out his contract with Mamelodi Sundowns.

Mlungisi Ngubane assumes the position of team manager, while Patrick Mabedi will serve as assistant to Soccoia.

Speaking of the changes, club boss David Thidiela said: "I am doing all this for the Black Leopards supporters.

"These people brave all kinds of weather conditions to come and support this club. I don't want to see them crying, I want to see them happy.

"Patrick Mabedi has played and captained Malawian national team and won trophies with Kaizer Chiefs as a captain. He brings a wealth of experience in the team. The coach has won championships in Cameroon, Gabon and Ivory Coast.

"We are keeping Morgan Shivambu as a second assistant coach. He understands the culture of the club. We are also keeping Sam Banda as our goalkeeper coach."
