Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs skipper Bernard Parker has praised his side's "fighting spirit" ahead of what promises to be an intriguing clash with SuperSport United on Saturday evening.

Parker has donned the captain's armband in the first two games of the Premiership campaign, and Amakhosi have started well, claiming maximum points to put themselves in the mix at the top of the table at this early stage of the campaign.

Speaking to the club's official website, kaizerchiefs.com, Parker explained: "We have started off with six points which is something good and a positive beginning for us.

"We had a good fighting spirit in both of our games so far. We have continued to put in the work by fighting for one another in training and has shown and will show in our performances.

"In the first game against Highlands our fighting spirit was good we came back from a goal down to win and against Leopards we continued in the same way.

"We played well created chances won the games and importantly collected three points."

When asked what kind of input Parker's team-mates were receiving from him, he added: "I try to encourage the guys in a positive way.

"Also getting the guys to focus on ourselves and trying and build on ways that we can complement one another, always trying to build the confidence of the guys and between them building trust so that we can build the belief in our abilities."

Saturday's clash with SuperSport will be a good test of Chiefs' progress, as their opponents have recorded back-to-back 3-0 wins, against Pirates and Wits.

And with the international break looming closer, Parker says Chiefs must aim to collect another six points from their next two games.

"We must win our next two games against SuperSport and Cape Town City so that we are able to be at the summit of the log before the break," he concluded.
