Benni: When is the league going to take action?

Cape Town - Cape Town City head coach Benni McCarthy has furiously taken to social media questioning the actions of the Premier Soccer League (PSL).

In a midweek Absa Premiership clash on Wednesday, the Citizens were held to a 2-2 stalemate against Free State Stars but what transpired during the match between Paulus Masehe and Roland Putsche is what triggered McCarthy's anger.

The Free State Stars captain put in a dangerous tackle against Putsche but did not receive a booking, instead the Austrian was strangely shown a yellow card.

Minutes later before half-time, Putsche was unable to continue and was replaced by Thabo Nodada.

In an Instagram post, McCarthy urged the PSL to take action: "I’m so sorry about this but no way hosay, my player gets a yellow card in tonight’s game for this challenge and almost lost his leg? What is this for football man? When is the league going to take action."

Meanwhile, City have confirmed that Putsche is set to undergo a scan while the club sent out a request to the South African Football Association's (SAFA) referee committee to look into the incident.

City said via Twitter: "Roland is still unable to walk today after the horrific stomp by Paulus Masehe. Putsche is likely to undergo a scan as soon as the team arrives in Johannesburg for the MTN8 semi final second leg. We wish him a speedy recovery!

'The club has made an urgent request to the SAFA refereeing committee to review the incident and the inappropriate sanction that followed."
