Benni wants Pienaar to end career at Bucs

Cape Town - Bafana Bafana's greatest ever goalscorer, Benni McCarthy, says it would be wise for Steven Pienaar to consider ending his career at Orlando Pirates.

McCarthy, who ended his own glittering career with a successful spell at Pirates, believes his 34-year-old compatriot still has a lot to offer as a player.

Pienaar, who is currently training with Sunderland in the Premier League in the hope of winning a deal under David Moyes, has previously stated that playing for Bucs has always been an ambition he held.

Nonetheless, McCarthy maintains that signing for the Soweto giants would be a good move for both the veteran midfielder and the club.

"He is a South African and it's always good to give back. I think it would be a wise move for him if it happens, because with all his experience, he has got so much more to give back," the Champions League winner told Soccer Laduma.

"Any PSL team he went to he'd definitely turn into a winning team... into a championship contender. His quality, his vision and now his leadership qualities would be valuable to any team in the PSL that secured his signature."
