Cape Town - Former Bafana Bafana marksman Benni McCarthy says he would pick SuperSport United's Bradley Grobler as his lone striker in a best Premiership XI.
McCarthy was asked which 11 players he would chose if he was to assemble his dream PSL team.
The former Orlando Pirates and Porto striker had some interesting choices, including veteran defenders Morgan Gould and Robyn Johannes.
Others included Thabo Matlaba, Itumeleng Khune, Tebogo Langerman, Edwin Gyimah (who recently left Pirates and the PSL), Hlompho Kekana, Oupa Manyisa, Percy Tau and Khama Billiat.
There was no place for Lebogang Manyama, while up front, he ignored the likes of Tendai Ndoro and went for Grobler - who has never been a prolific goalscorer - but would bring other assets to the side, according to McCarthy.
"My front three would be, Oupa Manyisa in the middle, on the right I would have Percy Tau, on the left I would have Khama Billiat and then my lone striker would be Bradley Grobler," McCarthy told Soccer Laduma.
"Only because I feel that he (Grobler) has an incredible work ethic, he reminds me a lot about Luis Suarez's work rate.
"You need a specific striker that can play one against the back four and his work ethic is good, he works hard and can hold up the ball, he makes intelligent runs and he can play.
"I think Ndoro is a goal-scorer, but he is not the best technically, he can hold up the ball but he doesn't make intelligent passes.
"I could pick Nathan Paulse, Ndoro, (Thamsanqa) Gabuza, there are a lot of good strikers but I feel like Grobler is the guy that I would have to lead the front line. He is quick and pacey," McCarthy explained.
The 29-year-old Grobler is currently side-lined after undergoing an operation during the break. He has scored 15 league goals during his five seasons with Matsatsantsa, having made 73 appearances in the Premiership.
