Benni hints at ambitions of coaching Chiefs, Bucs or Sundowns

Cape Town - Cape Town City coach Benni McCarthy has hinted he has ambitions of one day coaching sides likes Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.

McCarthy is in his second season with City during which time his side has performed highly in all competitions.

Last season the Citizens were losing finalists in the MTN8 final to SuperSport United but enacted revenge in 2018/19 when they won the competition against United on a penalty shoot-out.

As such, the former Bafana Bafana striking legend takes the view that the performances of his side can only have increased the stock of himself and his technical team.

With the MTN8 trophy now residing in the Mother City as well as the R8 million in prize money, McCarthy jokingly told reporters: “The bigger teams might be looking at us now.

“I think my chairman might have a problem keeping his coaching staff together now.”

The 40-year-old has previously been linked to take over at Orlando Pirates prior to the appointment of current mentor Milutin Sredojevic.

He has made no secret of one day wanting to take over as head coach for the side he played for from 2011 until 2013.
