Cape Town - Orlando Pirates midfielder Ben Motshwari insists he was not showboating after he was criticised by some fans in the Absa Premiership victory over Polokwane City on Tuesday.

The Buccaneers went on to win the game 3-2 but had to survive a nervy end to the game after Rise and Shine scored in stoppage time.

The late strike by the visitors came after Motshwari lost the ball near the touchline, after trying a skill, and a few moments later Mpho Mvelase struck a curling shot past Wayne Sandilands in the Pirates goal.

When asked about that final goal, Motshwari simply said: "There was no showboating.

"I mean, as a football player, you've been taught one thing by your coach: If it's one-on-one isolation on the sides, you have to take your man on.

"So, I don't see anything wrong that I did. At the time we were leading 3-1, it’s unfortunate and they were lucky to push us back by the time they scored.

"But I think the coach said it, we had the match under control, so we don't feel bad. It was unfortunate and it always happens in our game where we concede silly goals.

"The goal that we conceded was not from the showboating as you say, it was just unfortunate that they caught us on the counter and then scored."
