Cape Town - Ex-Kaizer Chiefs defensive-midfielder Chris Matombo is reportedly being looked at by Lokeren in the Belgium Pro League - the club who Bafana Bafana international, Ayanda Patosi, plays for in Europe.
The 22-year-old is a free agent after being released by Chiefs at the end of last season. The player gained something of a reputation as a 'bad boy' following a spate of disciplinary issues.
After failing to break into the first team with the Glamour Boys, Matombo was loaned out to Chippa United for the 2015/16 season. In just the club's second game, he failed to turn up to travel with the side for a match against Orlando Pirates.
The midfielder was also reportedly a disturbance at the residence he stayed in while at Chippa - neighbours were said to have complained about his behaviour on more than once occasion.
As a result, the Chilli Boys gave up on Matombo and his contract was terminated last April after making just two appearances. Chiefs subsequently released him in early June.
However, it now appears the player could have a chance to get his career back on track. According to Soccer Laduma sources, Lokeren have been impressed with the promising young star's DVD footage and are taking an interest.
The source said: "He will be travelling to Belgium for assessment. They club has reviewed his profile and they are keen to see him soon. We are just busy pushing to secure good financial terms."
Matombo is currently keeping fit with Mthatha Bucks in the National First Division.
