Baxter: We weren’t good enough

Cape Town – Stuart Baxter believes that his SuperSport United side did not create enough chances to inflict any pain on Mamelodi Sundowns.

Asavela Mbekile and Khama Billiat both scored as the Brazilians Matsatsansta 2-0 at Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium.

“We were a little bit passive in our press-play. We dropped off and they had a lot of possession and they built confidence through possession,” Baxter said as quoted by KickOff.

“I have to say, I don’t think they hurt us that much but we didn’t create enough and our possession didn’t lead to enough.

Baxter says that their naivety in defence cost them as well which is how Sundowns killed off the game.

“So all in all you’ve got to say that we weren’t good enough on the night and if you give a good team that’s in a good vein of form those sort of chances, then you’re gonna struggle to beat them.”
