Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs assistant Shaun Bartlett has hailed the work ethic and attention to detail of head coach Ernst Middendorp despite a dismal season.
Middendorp was appointed in December last year to take over from the hapless Giovanni Solinas and he initially appeared to improve fortunes.
However, the season ended with the Glamour Boys going down in flames following a winless seven match league run as well as a defeat to TS Galaxy in the Nedbank Cup final.
Nonetheless, Bartlett takes the view that the German's exhaustive approach and professionalism is worthy of the highest praise.
The former Bafana Bafana striker said: "It's been refreshing [working under Middendorp]. Obviously, nobody will realise the amount of work the man puts in, waking up at two in the morning and sending me emails at four in the morning.
"That's what he's all about, and that's why I enjoy working with him, everything is down to details, every match, every training, you get what you'll be doing the next day already before you get to training. And you know exactly what's going to happen.
"Even some matches also, every detail is there for the players and caching staff, how things must be implemented and how [tactics] should be applied."
It seems reports are suggesting the pair could continue working together in 2019/20 as Amakhosi try to end a four year run without winning a single trophy.
