Bartlett critical of senior players

Cape Town - University of Pretoria coach Shaun Bartlett has challenged the senior members of the squad to inspire a resurgence to avoid relegation.

AmaTuks suffered their 13th loss of the season in the 2-1 defeat to Bidvest Wits at the Bidvest Stadium on Friday evening.

The second-from-bottom university club could find themselves back in the NFD next season after four seasons in the Premiership.

"We definitely weren't outplayed. We gave a good account of ourselves and it's always devastating to concede so late on," Bartlett said after the game.

"It was disappointing in the sense that the experienced players didn't take charge. Lack of communication, lack of concentration; those little details cost us the game, but once again the effort, I can't fault that.

"We are creating more chances and, like I said before, we need to try and convert a bit more. At the back, the leadership qualities need to come to the fore as far as the experienced players go.

"What is experience? Is it the amount of years you play or what you learn in that time? Our players definitely need to step up a bit more to make sure we get the first win."
