Cape Town - Baroka FC coach Dylan Kerr has confirmed that the club have signed Bidvest Wits striker Ivan Mahangwahaya.
The Limpopo-born forward returns to his home province after an unsuccessful stint with the Clever Boys and has signed a short-term contract with Rise and Shine until the end of the season with an option to extend.
"Yeah he has signed until the end of the season," Kerr told FarPost.
"Look I mean Ivan is a good player it was my advice to the Chairman (David Thidiela) you know he needed to go find a new lease of life because he had been at Leopards for all his career.
"I have challenged Ivan and it’s up to him now so if he wants to extend his contract at the end of the season then he must help keep Baroka in the PSL and earn himself a decent contract so it's up to him now."
Baroka are currently lagging in the bottom half of the Absa Premiership table in 13 position.
With 10 games left of the campaign, Baroka will have it all to play for to remain in top flight football next season.
At least five teams are at risk of getting relegated as clubs in the lower end of the log begin to fight it out for survival
Baroka will next face Highlands Park on Saturday, February 1 at the Makhulong Stadium.
Kick-off is at 20:15.
