Baroka retain Motshegwa services

Cape Town - Baroka FC have confirmed that midfielder Jacky Motshegwa will remain with the club for their debut campaign in the Premiership this season.

The Orlando Pirates player spent last season on loan at the National First Division outfit, becoming an integral part of Kgokolo Thobejane's title-winning side.

And he also impressed in their Nedbank Cup run to the semi-finals, losing to eventual winners Supersport United.

The 28-year-old midfielder has top-flight experience with Bloemfontein Celtic, who he impressed with in his solitary season at the club after being snapped up from Roses United.

His form with Siwelele led to a dream move to the Soweto giants, but after failing to command regular first-team football he joined Bakgaga last season, where he scored three goals in 14 league starts.

"The club has reached an agreement with Pirates to retain on-loan Jacky Motshegwa for the rest of the season," the Limpopo-based outfit confirmed on Friday.

Motshegwa scored six goals in 18 games across all competitions for Baroka last season.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
