Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Kearyn Baccus says he enjoyed the experience of making his debut for the club though the 3-2 win over Highlands Park was challenging.
Chiefs opened their 2019/20 season with a victory with Lebogang Manyama gaining the plaudits with a well-taken brace.
Eric Mathoho proved to be the hero late on in the Premiership contest as his deflected volley secured all three points for the Glamour Boys.
Baccus provided the assist for Manyama's first goal though he produced a mixed performance and was replaced at half-time.
Speaking to the club's official website, he said: "It was a great feeling to make a start for the team...I am glad to be part of this massive team. I am always ready at any time when required to play.
"I was happy to be in the starting line-up. It was good to see so many Kaizer Chiefs supporters in and around the stadium. The supporters turned up in big numbers which is a boost for the season. The stadium was packed, and the spectators were loud and cheering us on.
"The pitch was very difficult to play on. Also, we were caught off guard by their long balls. It was good to get a win and start the season with three points."
Amakhosi are back in action on Saturday evening when they take on Black Leopards at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. Kickoff is 20:15.
