'Baccus gives us an additional dimension', says Middendorp

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp explains just what it is that Kearyn Baccus brings to the Soweto giants ahead of the Telkom Knockout semi-final against Maritzburg United at Mbombela Stadium on Sunday.

Baccus has been out with injury since the Telkom Knockout first-round victory over Cape Town City after making an impressive start to the season, having joined from Melbourne City in the previous transfer window.

But the 28-year-old Durban-born midfielder is set to return for the weekend's last-four showdown with the Team of Choice, while Amakhosi are also boosted by the return of Itumeleng Khune.

And Middendorp was especially pleased to welcome back Baccus, whom he says is crucial for the Glamour Boys as he seldom gives away possession.

"Yeah, it's definitely something as we know his last game was a few weeks ago. He trained now fully in the international break, and particularly the entire week now," Middendorp told KickOff.

"Very mobile and flexible and he's definitely a player who gives us an additional dimension with this really responsible ball possession rate - it's good; it's good. I'm very happy to have him back."

Kick-off is at 15:00.
