Arrows snap losing streak with win over Baroka

Cape Town - Lerato Lamola scored the only goal of the game as Golden Arrows snapped a four-game losing streak to beat 10-man Baroka 1-0 at the Sugar Ray Xulu stadium on Wednesday.

Lamola struck the decisive goal in the 70th minute as Arrows returned to winning ways in the Absa Premiership.

Both teams struggled to get going in the encounter as no clear chances were created in the 20 minutes of the game.

It was the hosts who almost took the lead close to the half hour mark but Danny Venter shot wide of the target.

Abafana Bes'thende were the better team but had to settle for a goalless first half as the visitors continued to hold firm at the back.

The breakthrough eventually came 20 minutes from the end as Lamola slotted past a helpless Elvis Chipezeze in the Baroka goal.

The night went from bad to worse for Bakgakga as Manuel Kambala was shown a red card by the referee five minutes from the end.

Arrows went on to claim a vital victory but the defeat sees Baroka sink deeper into relegation trouble.
