Arendse snubs Wits to join SuperSport backroom staff

Cape Town - Goalkeeping coach Andre Arendse has joined SuperSport United from Bidvest Wits ahead of the 2016/17 Premiership season.

The former Bafana Bafana shot-stopper joined the Sturrock Park-based outfit in 2013 - after he was roped in by former national team coach Clive Barker.

Arendse will now head up one of the strongest goalkeeping departments in South African football, with Matsatsantsa boasting the likes of Ronwen Williams, Reyaad Pieterse, Boalefa Pule and Dumsani Msibi in their ranks.

Clever Boys CEO Jose Ferreira spoke of his disappointment at Arendse's departure and revealed that the former Fulham goalkeeper was enticed by a better salary package at Stuart Baxter's team.

"We are very disappointed to have lost Andre but we simply could not match the package that was offered to him by SuperSport United," CEO Jose Ferreira told KickOff.

"As a club we stick to strict budget constraints, and there was only so far we were prepared to go," he concluded.
