Angry Mpengesi says Chippa not for sale

Cape Town - Chippa United boss Chippa Mpengesi has denied strongly reports that he was going to sell his club's PSL status to Ajax Cape Town.

A report in the media had suggested United were going to be sold to the Urban Warriors as Ajax seek a return to South Africa's top flight from the National First Division.

The side from the Mother City failed to qualify for the playoffs in the second tier and appear to be desperately seeking a return to the Premiership.

There has been talk that the club's partnership with Ajax Amsterdam could be in jeopardy should they continue to play their football in the lower reaches.

Nonetheless, Mpengesi has responded angrily to reports suggesting a sale could be imminent and insists that this is not the case at all.

The established businessman told KickOff that Chippa are tied into a long term deal with Mandela Bay municipality, and therefore selling is not a possibility.

He added that he was loyal to supporters in the Eastern Cape and is committed to doing work in the surrounding communities.

The Chilli Boys boss concluded that a deal to sell his franchise would be damaging to sponsors of his side.
