AmaZulu ready to make amends against Chiefs

Cape Town - AmaZulu welcome a wounded Kaizer Chiefs to the King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi on Wednesday, desperate to make amends in the Premiership clash after their cup exit last month.

Usuthu were embarrassed 3-0 in front of their own fans by Amakhosi in the Telkom Knockout, a match they could have won had they taken their chances they created in a thrilling encounter.

As it happened, the Soweto giants progressed and subsequently lost in the semi-final to Bidvest Wits this past weekend.

"They will be hurting, sure, but so will we," said AmaZulu coach Cavin Johnson.

"We played really well against them in the cup, but failed to take our chances. Had those gone in, it could easily have been a different ball game.

"But that’s in the past now and we have this game tomorrow night. We fell we are ready and hopefully we can deliver."

Usuthu are presently ninth on the table, but only two points behind fifth-placed Chiefs, who they can leapfrog with a win.

Ovidy Kururu, Thembela Sikhakhane and Sadate Ouru-Akoriko are all back from injury, but Thapelo Nyongo is still sidelined.

Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Kgotso Moleko, Teenage Hadebe, Ryan Moon and Tsepo Masilela are expected to miss out for Chiefs due to injury.

Meanwhile, Wiseman Meyiwa is suspended.

Kick off is at 19:30.
