Chiefs confirm Castro attracting interest from other clubs

Cape Town - Colombian striker Leonardo Castro appears to be close to departing Kaizer Chiefs after the club's communications manager confirmed "there are inquiries" for the player.

The 30-year-old's days at Naturena appear to be numbered after he was removed from the club's ballot for the upcoming Carling Black Label Cup.

The suspicions of fans have now been confirmed, although Amakhosi's communications manager, Vina Maphosa, would not divulge the identity of the clubs said to be interested in acquiring his services.

"There have been inquiries on Castro. However, I can't disclose where those inquiries are from, but there are inquiries for Castro," Maphosa told Goal.com.

"If we do that then we would be jeopardizing the discussions."

Castro started his career in South Africa with Mamelodi Sundowns in 2015 following a brief spell with Universitario de Sucre in Bolivia.

He went on to make 62 appearances for Downs in all competitions, scoring 16 goals in the process, before Chiefs came calling in December 2017.

However, he has seemingly been deemed surplus to requirements at Naturena and could seal a move before the new season kicks off in August.
