All to play for in the second-leg for Stars

Cape Town - Platinum Stars suffered a 1-0 defeat to Vipers SC in their CAF Confederations Cup first-leg match played at St Mary's Stadium in Kampala.

It was the home team who enjoyed the better of the chances in the first-half, with Erisa Ssekisambu missing the best of the opportunities when he steered a free header wide in the 35th minute.

Minutes later, Ssekisambu would then miss another chance to put the Vipers ahead.

However, the pressure would pay off in the 46th minute when Milton Karisa directed a superb header into the back of the net.

Bonginkosi Ntuli thought he had found an equaliser in the 60th minute, but his effort was not given due to an earlier infringement.

There were few chances in the second-half, although Stars' Benson Shilongo may feel he should have done better with a header in the 89th minute.

There were no further alarms as Vipers collected a morale-boosting victory ahead of the second-leg in South Africa on March 18 at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium.
