Alexander set to bolster struggling Wits

Cape Town - Ex-SuperSport United midfielder Cole Alexander is set to bolster the squad of struggling Absa Premiership champions Bidvest Wits, according to a report.

According to a report by SoccerLaduma the Clever Boys - who sit in 14th spot on the log standings - are 'expected to announce Alexander's signature imminently'.

The former Ajax Cape Town and Polokwane City man has been a free agent since leaving SuperSport  by mutual consent last month.

The Bafana-capped 28-year-old was nominated for the Absa Premiership Footballer and Midfielder of the Season awards a couple of years ago and will bring tenacity and a creative spark should he indeed join Gavin Hunt's squad.

The defending league champions parted ways with ex-Bafana Bafana international Steven Pienaar in the January transfer window after the former Everton star had made minimal impact.

Alexander's energy and industry may be more what Hunt is looking for.

Wits were recently dumped out of the Nedbank Cup at the round of 32 stage by Cape Town City as the Citizens made it four wins in a row against the Clever Boys for the 2017/18 season.
