Cape Town - Cole Alexander says it was emotional to say goodbye to his Polokwane City team-mates as he prepared for life at SuperSport United.
The former Ajax Cape Town player joined Rise and Shine in 2014 after he was released by the Urban Warriors.
He then revived his career at the Limpopo-based club and even received a few Bafana Bafana call-ups. In the 2014/15 season, he was nominated for the PSL Midfielder of the Season award.
"My stay at Polokwane City has been amazing journey for me," Alexander told Vodacom Soccer. "At the beginning it was tough to settle in and adapt but once I adapted and settled in, everything was smooth and people welcomed me and it was nice.
"Having said that, it was a big difference from me to come from Cape Town to Polokwane and it is totally different how the two clubs operated.
"The chance Polokwane City gave me it was big blessing. I'm grateful to Polokwane for the opportunity, I owe them the credit for resurrecting my career.
"I've learnt a lot here but the one thing that I did was sacrifice and put in hard work. I feel it did pay off.
"I will also miss my coaches. I met some amazing people, people at malls, and people all over. They have been so nice to me and Polokwane is small and it's a family."
The 26-year-old former Vasco da Gama midfielder, made 52 appearances for Polokwane and scored four goals.
