Cape Town - Just a day after securing the signature of Mark Mayambela, Ajax Cape Town to announce the signing of Lebohang “Cheeseboy” Mokoena.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns penned a two-year deal with the Urban Warriors.

Lebohang Mokoena broke into the Orlando Pirates first team squad at the tender age of 17, making his PSL debut with the Buccanneers in 2003.

Mokoena, who’s extensively known for his pace and dribbling ability, showed great consistency making just under 100 appearances for Pirates.

In 2009, Mokoena moved to Sundowns and remained an integral part of the Masandawana squad until the end of the 2015/16 PSL season.

Cheeseboy, as he is affectionately known, forms part of a unique group of players who have represented the South African national team at all levels. Being capped eight times with Bafana Bafana and spending 13 seasons in the PSL. Mokoena’s experience will be one of the most vital contributing attributes in the 2016/17 PSL season for Ajax Cape Town.

Having spent a few weeks training with Roger De Sa and his squad, and also forming part of the training camp in George where the squad played four training matches, Mokoena clearly showed his worth and proved that he could form an integral part of the Ajax Cape Town squad.

"This has given me a totally different view to football. Ajax Cape Town are very professional in everything that they do, on and off the field," commented Mokoena on the club's website.

"I was so impressed with the way the coaching staff and management handle things, they really made me feel like part of the team before we even.

"It’s really great to see the amount of young players who are given a chance to play at Ajax Cape Town and I’m happy to be part of it.

"I want to thank the coach and management of the club for giving me this opportunity. I am very excited to wear the Ajax Cape Town jersey and I’m ready to give my all for the club."
