Ajax CEO dismisses rumours

Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town CEO Ari Efstathiou has dismissed suggestions that Ajax Amsterdam are considering ending their association with the Absa Premiership club.

Ajax Amsterdam are majority shareholders in the club, and it was recently suggested that they could be looking to appoint a new head of development of their own choosing.

However, that hasn't stopped the rumour mill from going into overdrive this week after Ajax Amsterdam director Marc Overmars and financial director Jeroen Slop arrived in Cape Town.

"Firstly I must say that there shouldn't be any concerns at all about this," Efstathiou told KickOff.

"We will release a statement within the next few days.

"I'm rather concerned about the timing of all this as we are playing this weekend.

"If you look at who is in the picture of these allegations, one can understand."

The Urban Warriors return to action when they face Chippa United at Buffalo City Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
