Affonso out for three months after surgery

Mamelodi Sundowns will be without the services of striker Mauricio Affonso for the rest of the campaign after he underwent an operation.

The surgery was completed last week in order to address his groin injury, and he will now be sidelined for three months as he recovers.

"Mauricio did an operation. He will be back after three months. He will join us for pre-season," head coach Pitso Mosimane said, as quoted by KickOff.

Affonso played a key role for the Brazilians in the Telkom Knockout triumph in December as he netted two goals for the Chloorkop outfit.

Sundowns were, however, boosted by the return of midfielder Oupa Manyisa, who is back in light training with the team after the serious Achilles injury he suffered in October.
