Affonso in doubt for 'Downs for Tshwane derby

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns striker Mauricio Affonso seems unlikely to make his Absa Premiership debut against SuperSport United on Saturday due to injury.

The new signing from Uruguay picked up a knee injury at training and was left out of the pre-season tour to Zambia.

A source told KickOff: "Affonso is carrying a little bit of a knock.

"He didn't travel to Zambia and has been receiving treatment."

The Brazilians are chasing a record-extending 10th Absa Premiership title in 2019/20.

With that said, Hlompho Kekana, Sibusiso Vilakazi, Themba Zwane and Lebohang Maboe have all returned to training following their exertions with Bafana Bafana at the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

As such, it seems coach Pitso Mosimane will have a full selection of players to choose from apart from the South American forward.

Kick-off is at 15:00.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
