Zwane: I need to play

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Themba Zwane is confident that he can prove his worth if he gets more playing time next season.

The 25-year-old largely struggled to hold down a first-team spot this past season, making just 13 appearances for the Brazilians.

His lack of playing time has seen many question his ability, but Zwane believes his loan spell at Mpumalanga Black Aces in the 2013/14 season, where he made 25 appearances, showed what he is capable of.

People have their own opinions, however, I disagree with those who say I haven’t taken the final step up the ladder," he told Soccer Laduma.

"At Aces I played regularly in the team compared to Sundowns. Every player needs to play regularly to show consistency.

"If you play one game and you are out for the next one, people won’t see how consistent you are. I think I proved myself and showed what I am capable of doing. I am happy, although there is still room for improvement."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
