Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Themba Zwane admits that the time he spent at Mpumalanga Black Aces last season has contributed significantly to his resurgent career.

Zwane, who was on loan to Aces during the 2013/14 campaign, featured prominently in their campaign, thanks in part to the tremendous faith shown in him by coach Clive Barker.

That Barker is one of the great motivators in South African football, has been well documented and Zwane admits that he has helped him revive his career.

"You can see when I went to Mpumalanga Black Aces from Mamelodi Sundowns on loan that my confidence was low," Zwane told Soccer Laduma

"When I got there, Clive motivated me. He told me to focus on just playing because I was the best player. He said that I must just go on the field and try and do what comes naturally.

"He made me believe in myself. He motivated me by comparing me to Doctor. The belief flooded back and my confidence was high. I’m grateful he gave me that chance and opportunity," added Zwane.

Zwane has played in 16 league matches for Sundowns this term, despite there being stiff competition within the star-studded Bafana Ba Style squad.
