According to Soccer Laduma, Arsenal were keen on signing the former Orlando Pirates forward and Zuma was really considering packing up and heading to London.

“I really wanted to go and play in England, but at that time I was playing so well for Copenhagen in Denmark,” said Zuma.

“My boss wanted me to stay for two more years and then go to AC Milan.”

Zuma helped FC Kopenhagen secure their second Danish Championship and was eventually voted into the club’s hall of fame.

It was in 2003 when Gunners manager Arsene Wenger made enquiries about the Bafana Bafana legend’s availability.

“I was like, 'Wow,I didn’t know about this and it’s for a lot of money,' it was hard to turn down, man.

Zuma admits that he was hoping Arsenal came knocking again but reveals that Gunners only made the one offer.
