The striker has been part of every Bafana Bafana team named by Shakes Mashaba since the current coach took over seven months ago.

Zulu says that he has put the disappointment behind him and has backed Bafana to continue their improvement.

"Like any player, it was my dream to represent my country but at the end I had to respect the coach's decision," Zulu told Sapa.

"The team showed during the qualifiers that we can beat any country in front of us and that is the spirit that coach Mashaba has instilled.

"All we can do as South Africans is to rally behind the 23-man squad as we aim for our second AFCON glory since 1996."

Zulu joined Chiefs from Chippa United on a four-year deal in December and started training with the club on Thursday.

He will compete with fellow strikers Bernard Parker, Kingston Nkhatha, Siphelele Mthembu and Katlego Mphela for a place in the team.

Chiefs resume their Premiership league campaign on February 11 against Bloemfontein Celtic at the Free State Stadium.

Amakhosi currently lead the league table by a massive 15 points, with Sundowns in second place and Wits third.
