Zongo's Stars future uncertain

Cape Town - Platinum Stars head coach Cavin Johnson was unable, or unwilling, to reveal if striker Masibusane Zongo has a future at the Rustenburg club.

The 25-year-old, who has previously had stints with SuperSport United, Bidvest Wits and Chippa United, is coming to the end of a short-term contract at the club and Johnson would neither confirm nor deny if he would be offered an extension.

“If I tell you that I'm keeping Zongo now, it doesn't matter," Johnson told Soccer Laduma.

“If I say I'm sending him home, it doesn't matter also. The reason for that is that I have a group of 36 players.

Johsnon says that he has to take the players “concentration into consideration” when choosing which players will stay at the club and which players will leave.

“That's why I cannot say, 'You know what, I'm keeping Zongo', maybe there's a better player than Zongo. If there's a better player than Zongo that can do better work for my team, then so be it.”
