'Yeye' eyes City scalp

Cape Town - Following their disappointing Telkom Knockout exit over the weekend, Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Reneilwe Letsholonyane said the Glamour Boys cannot afford another slip-up.

Amakhosi lost 1-0 to Platinum Stars in the Telkom Knockout semi-finals last Saturday night.

The industrious midfielder spoke to Chiefs' official website ahead of their Absa Premiership clash against Polokwane City at the FNB Stadium on Wednesday night.

“It has been difficult after losing to Platinum Stars on the weekend,” said Letsholonyane

“Tomorrow it’s going to be a different ball-game altogether. The loss to Stars stays in the past; we have to concentrate on the next game.

“This is our home game and we cannot afford to lose two games in a row. Our record in the league at home is good considering that we have not lost a league game since early March.”

The Bafana Bafana star is well aware of City’s confidence ahead of this encounter but stressed that they will not underestimate the rookies.

“They will be high in confidence because they won last weekend and that they are playing Kaizer Chiefs. We need points at this stage and can’t afford to lose.

“We are of course disappointed but we do not have control over the past hence we will focus on the future, which we can influence.

“The players and the technical team are disappointed as we planned to reach the final of the TKO,” he added

Meanwhile, the newly promoted side are coming off a 3-0 win over the University of Pretoria at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane last Sunday.

Essau Kanyenda, Galagbwe Moyana and Puleng Tlolane grabbed the goals for "Rise and Shine'.

Boebie Solomons’ men will be looking to keep the momentum going when they take on Stuart Baxter’s team.

Kick-off is scheduled for 19:30.
