Yeye relishing derby day

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Reneilwe Letsholonyane is optimistic about the upcoming Soweto Derby, although he says every match against Orlando Pirates is different.

The Glamour Boys maintained their undefeated start to the Premiership this season after seeing off Bidvest Wits 3-0 and are now 11 points clear at the top of the standings.

The Buccaneers, meanwhile, are situated seventh with 18 points from the 12 games they have played so far this term, while their defeat to Maritzburg United on Tuesday left them 15 points adrift of Chiefs and also led to the resignation of head coach Vladimir Vermezovic.

However, ahead of this weekend's FNB Stadium encounter, Letsholonyane preached caution.

”Derbies are always different, so I won’t say we have advantage over Pirates,” Yeye said to Football411.

"In terms of confidence, we are confident as a team and it depends who is doing the right thing on that day. We are as confident as any other team - we are working hard and trying hard not to lose focus."

The Bafana Bafana international also had a word of encouragement for the Chiefs players who haven't played as many derbies as him, stating that, if given a place in the starting line-up, to focus on the job at hand.

He added: "When you are given a chance you must keep calm, focus and do whatever you do in any other game."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
