Cape Town - Cape Town City striker Matthew Rusike says a certain amount of arrogance will be needed for the match against his former team Kaizer Chiefs.

The Citizens host Amakhosi in a league encounter at the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday afternoon, and if he features, Rusike will be up against his former team for the second time, having been involved in a 0-1 league defeat at the start of 2018.

Yet to win in the league this season, Amakhosi will be gunning for maximum points against a City side who have earned seven points from their opening four matches and occupy seventh position.

Rusike says his team is ready for a Chiefs backlash, but also underlined the importance of approaching the game in a positive mind-set.

"Obviously we are respectful of Chiefs as they are a big team and, regardless of the disappointing start they feel they have had, it's never easy to play them," the 28-year-old told Soccer Laduma.

"We are not wanting to get ahead of ourselves, and we want to try and remain focused for this game.

"As you know we are in the finals of MTN8 but need to remain grounded. We have respect but also calculated arrogance because it's never easy for any team coming to Cape Town.

"Coach Benni has a plan like he always does, we just need to put it to practice."
