Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs will target a haul of three Absa Premiership points when they host Chippa United at FNB Stadium on Saturday to remain in the tile race.
Chiefs returned to winning form in the league by defeating Free State Stars 1-0 away on April 4, thanks to a last-gasp goal from Teenage Hadebe. The Soweto side had gone three matches without a victory prior to their midweek trip to Bethlehem.
Chippa suffered a third loss from their last four league matches when they were beaten 2-0 at log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns on April 4. The Eastern Cape side has won just one of their last nine matches in the top flight.
"I would not be doing justice if I were not to compliment Free State Stars for the fight they put, they're a hard nut to crack," Komphela said after their last-gasp 1-0 win in midweek.
Log Leaders Mamelodi Sundowns boast a seven point lead at the top of the table with a game in hand with Chiefs needing to win all their remaining fixtures to stay in contention.
"I’m not disappointed with the way my boys played, Chippa United coach Vladislav Heric said after a 2-0 away loss to Sundowns. "We were spot on tactically but that was not enough. A big team like Sundowns is difficult to beat whether you’re spot on or not."
"We knew that whoever was going to score first was going to win the match. We had a one-on-one with the goalkeeper [Denis Onyango], if we could have scored it we would be talking a different story now.
