Cape Town - SuperSport United midfielder Dove Wome hopes that his club can return to winning ways when they play against Bloemfontein Celtic on Wednesday.

In what has been a rather strange reversal of fortunes SuperSport have dropped outside the top eight during the past month, while Celtic have experienced a resurgence in the league, under the tutelage of Clinton Larsen.

SuperSport United do have their problems and many of them have affected the team in 2015 but Wome said now was not a time for excuses, adding that it was rather a time to rise to the occasion, even in the face of adversity.

"It is the same for every team at the top," Wome told his club’s website.

"That’s just the way it is in the PSL. The more successful you are, the more your players are being targeted and get injuries.

"Everyone has to deal with that. We may have dropped down the log after two defeats but we could be right back up there again if we win on Wednesday night.

"I am really confident in the team. This is a speed-bump and I am sure we will be back on track. Everyone had us written off after our start in the league, but we showed what was possible there. It is about belief and sticking together.

"These periods are tricky and the guys will have to dig deep. We are away from home and that makes a big difference.

“The crowd in Bloemfontein have been right behind their team this season and we intend to give them a run for their money and showcase what a strong team we are."

Kick-off is at 19:30 on Wednesday, March 11.
