Wits out to impress at home

Cape Town - Bidvest Wits will look to continue their strong home form in the Absa Premiership when they host Polokwane City at the Bidvest Stadium on Wednesday.

Wits played to their first goalless draw of the season on the weekend, holding Mamelodi Sundowns to a stalemate in Tshwane.

The Johannesburg team has claimed 10 points from a possible 12 at home this season. Gavin Hunt side are placed third on the Absa Premiership log with 14 points from eight matches.

Polokwane suffered a sixth defeat in seven winless league games when they were beaten 5-1 at Bloemfontein Celtic. The Limpopo based-side has claimed three points from four away matches this season.

Rise and Shine are placed 15th on the Absa Premiership log with just four points from eight matches.

In head-to-head stats, Wits and Polokwane have met in two previous league matches.

Both of those encounters took place last season, with the match in Johannesburg ending goalless while the return in Polokwane was won 3-1 by the Clever Boys.

Kick-off is at 19:30 on Wednesday, October 22.
