Wits to give no breathing space

Cape Town - Free State Stars will look to continue their winning run in the Absa Premiership when they host Bidvest Wits at Goble Park.

Stars recorded a second successive league victory when they beat Ajax Cape Town 1-0 at home last week.

The Free State side has claimed 19 points from 12 home matches this season.

Their next three league opponents are Chippa United (home), Bloemfontein Celtic (away) and Black Aces (home).

Ea Lla Koto are placed 14th on the Absa Premiership log with 28 points from 26 matches.

Wits played to a second draw in their last three league matches when they were held 0-0 at home by Chippa United earlier this month.

The Johannesburg side has claimed 19 points from 13 away matches this season.

Their remaining league opponents are Black Aces (home), Kaizer Chiefs (away) and Platinum Stars (home).

The Clever Boys are placed fourth on the Absa Premiership log with 45 points from 26 matches.

In head-to-head stats, Stars and Wits have met in 48 league matches since 1986.

The Clever Boys have claimed 17 wins compared to 13 for Ea Lla Koto, while 18 matches have veen drawn.

Stars have won 10 of their 24 home matches against Wits, suffering five defeats in the process.

When the teams met earlier this season, goals from Katongo and Doutie took the Clever Boys to a 2-0 home win.

Kick-off at 18:00 on Wednesday, April 29.
