Wits to build on 'Downs record

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns will target their first win in the Absa Premiership this season when they host Bidvest Wits at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

Sundowns started their 2015/16 league campaign with a goalless draw away to Platinum Stars on August 8.

The Brazilians are placed ninth on the Absa Premiership log with one point from one match.

Wits opened their league campaign for 2015/16 with a 2-1 home win over Ajax Cape Town on August 8.

The Clever Boys are placed second on the Absa Premiership log with three points from one match.

In head-to-head stats, Sundowns and Wits have met in 59 league matches since 1985.

The Brazilians have claimed 31 wins compared to 16 for the Clever Boys, while 12 matches have been drawn.

Sundowns have won 17 of their 29 home matches against Wits, suffering just four defeats in the process.

Last season the Clever Boys took four points off the Brazilians, drawing 0-0 in Tswane before winning the return game in Johannesburg 1-0.

The teams have played to just one goalless draw (in the first half of last season) in their last 19 league encounters.

Kick-off is at 15:00 on Saturday, August 22.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
