Wits sign Aaron Mokoena

Johannesburg - PSL side, Wits, have continued their impressive start to the transfer window by signing Bafana Bafana legend, Aaron Mokoena.

It was always thought that the 31-year-old was keen to leave his former club, Portsmouth, after a disastrous season with them saw him play less than a handful of games.

The Siya crew can now reveal that the former Jomo Cosmos man has agreed a deal with Wits and will be turning out in the navy blue of the Clever Boys next season.

Paul Mitchell of Siyavuma Sports, the agency representing Mokoena, told the Siya crew, "Yes, after talking to various different parties, Aaron has agreed in principal to sign for Wits. Aaron was very impressed with the club and their vision for the future and it's not just a case of dotting the i's and crossing the t's. It's a great signing for the PSL as a whole and we're glad to have Aaron back in the country."

Mokoena’s signing follows the acquisition of Matthew Pattison and the re-signing of midfielder, Sibusiso Vilakazi, which will give fans of The Students reason to be excited for next season.

It is thought that Wits beat SuperSport United to South Africa’s highest capped international, but a player of his experience and calibre could be hugely important to Wits as they put their newly acquired millions to good use.
