Wits set to surge pass AmaTuks

Cape Town - University of Pretoria will hope to end Bidvest Wits’ run of form in the Absa Premiership when the teams meet at Tuks Stadium.

University of Pretoria ended their winless streak at four matches with an impressive 5-1 away victory at Polokwane City in midweek.

The Tshwane side has claimed just five points from seven home matches this season.

Their next three league opponents are Chippa United (home), Free State Stars (away) and Black Aces (home).

AmaTuks are placed 11th on the Absa Premiership log with 18 points from 16 matches.

Wits have claimed 10 points from the last 12 available and defeated SuperSport United 1-0 in midweek.

The Johannesburg side has claimed 11 points from eight away matches this season.

Their next three league opponents are Maritzburg United, Moroka Swallows (both away) and Mamelodi Sundowns (home).

The Clever Boys are placed second on the Absa Premiership log with 30 points from 17 matches.

In head-to-head stats, Tuks and Wits have met in five league matches since 2012/13.

The Clever Boys have an unbeaten record, with two wins and three draws in the sequence.

The matches between the teams in Pretoria have seen Wits win 2-1 (2012/13) and a goalless draw (2013/14).

When the teams met earlier this season in Johannesburg they played out a 1-1 draw.

Kick-off at 15:30 on Sunday, December 21.
