Following reports in the media indicating that Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs has signed a pre-contract with Wits, the Siya crew contacted the club’s CEO, Jose Ferreira, who shot down the rumours.
The former Bafana Bafana international has suffered a tough time at Pirates this season, dropping out of the side due to injury before losing his place on a long-term basis to Senzo Meyiwa.
Consequently there has been much speculation surrounding the 32-year-old’s future in the South African media, with Ajax Cape Town having been linked as a possible destination.
However, despite the reports that Josephs has already put pen to paper on a pre-contract with the Clever Boys, Ferreira told the crew that this was not the case, and that, due to their current goalkeeping crisis, they are currently pursuing another keeper.
While the club have gone some way to distance themselves from the rumour, as is always the case in football, you never know what the future may hold.
